Reach Out! What is workplace bullying?

Workplace bullying is when you are verbally, physically, socially or psychologically hurt by your employer (or manager), another person or group of people at work. It can happen in any type of workplace, from offices to workshops, including voluntary, casual and military positions.

The most effective way of dealing with bullying at work is to have an agreed policy, which sets out clearly what is acceptable behaviour and what is not, and which sets out the sanctions that will be invoked if people go beyond the bounds of that acceptable behaviour.
